Complex Decision Sciences and Health Policies

The Department of Complex Decision Sciences and Health Policies (DCDSHP) is composed of an interdisciplinary team including mathematicians, computer scientists, specialists in management sciences and people from the health sector who perform a scientific activity in the decision making process applied to the health care sector. The DCDSHP proposes a fundamental approach to decision making problems with high level theoretical work on modeling and simulating preferences aggregation processes, ‘negotiation phenomena’ and on new methods for acquiring and analyzing complex and heterogeneous data. From a practical point of view, the DCDSHP focuses on problems relating to medical economic evaluation of strategies or policies in health care delivery, to different ways for health care sector financing, to the management of health care delivery organizations and problems relating to social security cover.

The DCDHSP has a wide experience in health care sector problems solving them through various relationships with big pharma firms and health care delivery organizations. It has been coordinator of different European projects on topics dealing with the health care sector and has worked closely with the WHO, the World Bank and the ILO through different international research projects. The result of its research have appeared in a variety of publications in different fields of the health care sector as well as in specialized mathematics and computer science journal.

Ecole Pratique des Hautes Etudes

The EPHE’s two-fold mission is to advance research and to provide training through the practice of research work in the wide variety of its fields of competence. Being a practical school (école pratique) means that the EPHE focuses on practical training in basic and applied scientific research. This takes the form of seminars, conferences, symposia, traineeships, tutorials and methodological courses, with a view to giving EPHE students and auditors a taste for research through the practice of individual research work.
